CORNING, N.Y. — Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced the general availability of a new mid-power remote and enhanced software that leverages the advanced capabilities of the company’s ONE Wireless headend and further extends the suitability of the ONE platform for projects with diverse topologies.

The mid-power remote unit (MRU) is a 6-band remote with an expansion port for future upgrades and offers several key benefits for carriers. It includes support for all bands (700, ESMR and cellular, PCS, AWS and WCS); easy setup, upgrades and commissioning; and improved scalability as new services or bands need to be added, all in a much smaller form factor that requires less power. In addition, the MRU can be combined with the low-power remote antenna unit (RAU) for cost-optimized coverage and capacity in any type of venue, both indoors and outside.

Corning will also demonstrate an enhanced management software tool. This new version offers improved tools for installation, set up, commissioning and serviceability. Corning’s ONE software provides a more secure system through enhanced authentication, as well as campus and site-view tools that better meet the needs of multi-building campuses or large public venues with diverse requirements.

“Carriers are asking for increased flexibility – to meet different sectorization schemes, to be easily upgradable as new bands are required, and for improved modularity and system visibility,” said Mike O’Day, vice president, Wireless Networks, Corning. “With Corning’s new MRU and software enhancements, we are helping carriers meet this complex set of needs.”
